Welcome to Ysgol Bryn Elian's Art Department.
Here you'll find information on the different courses run in the department. You will also be able to view pupils work, find information on competitions and trips being run.
At KS3 pupils study Art once a week where they have an opportunity to explore a variety of artists from different periods in history to contemporary artists. They will experience a wide range of media and materials such as painting, drawing, printing and 3D clay work. Pupils will develop their skills in investigating, reflecting and refining their work and will create personal responses to their work and the work of others.
GCSE students have 5 hours of Art a fortnight to complete their WJEC course. Students are introduced to more advanced techniques and skills and are able to develop their observational skills further.
During Year 10 they will be working in a sketchbook exploring different techniques and responding to the work of others. They will also create final pieces. During Year 11 they will develop their coursework and then begin their exam.
Successful GCSE students who wish to further their Art and through enjoyment of the subject choose A Level Art. They are able to develop ideas, experiment, record in a variety of visual forms responding personally to a topic, theme or idea.
